Luke Wetland shares his return to Cadre, recounting a seven-year personal transformation, running experiences and how changing priorities reshaped his social orbit while reflecting on community and goals.
Luke opens the video with cheerful greetings, a brief song-like bit, and introduces himself and his enthusiasm for the community. This orients viewers and sets an upbeat tone for the message that follows.
Luke outlines a deep seven-year change about identity and priorities, explaining how he let go of alcohol and refocused on being his best for family and community. This section explains the motivation behind his recent pursuits and mindset shift.
Luke recounts running around Minneapolis lakes, highlights friends competing in ultra events and generous endurance challenges, and spotlights remarkable accomplishments like world records and fundraising. These examples illustrate the influence of community and the adage about who you surround yourself with.
Luke tells the team about injuries and a quieter period, then announces that he's recommitting and mapping out big plans for 2027. He makes a decisive 'it's on' statement to signal renewed focus and ambition.
Luke hints at an epic plan involving many Minnesota cities and endurance events, noting a potential partnership with Children's Minnesota inspired by personal stories of loss. He frames the idea as big, charitable, and pending family approval.
Luke urges planning and weekly goals over daily pressure, explains how to build incremental success, and declares 2027 a transformational year. He closes with motivational affirmations, promises weekly updates, and invites viewers to join his commitment.
Good morning. Good morning. It's grand to be alive. Good morning. Good morning to you. Do do do do do do. My mom and dad would sing that sometimes on Saturdays and Sundays. Well, actually, it was my grandpa who did it first, and my mom and dad were kind of like did it in joking fashion. But again, hi, everybody. My name is Luke Wentland. It's an honor and a privilege to be here. This is officially, I always say this, this is my favorite thing in the world to be a part of. I love Cadre more than anything.
It's not just because I've been here since day one. This is the community and the place I want to be. I live for it. So I'm back. What do I mean by that? So bear with me, guys. You have to listen up here. So about seven years ago, I went on this like radical transformation. People that probably knew me nine years ago and then saw me three years later probably wouldn't have recognized me. I'm not talking weight and stuff like that, but it was more about like who I am, what I am, what I stand for, what do I want to be a part of.
kind of dealing with from letting go of alcohol to moving forward and being the best me that I can be for my family, for everything else. So happy morning, Triple B. Let's go. We're going to get it today. It's going to be a phenomenal week. I can rest assure you that. But So about seven years ago, like I said, I went on this radical transformation. I threw myself into these crazy things. I threw myself into these crazy things. Like I would go run this thing called Hell on the Hail, which was the hilliest half marathon in the world.
I would participate in different events. For example, like my buddy down in Atlanta said, you got to come to this thing. It's this founding member for the All Day Running Club. So I did that, which led me to this group of seven people. And of those seven people, there'll be more stories here. There's more stories to come. But so when you start making these drastic changes and you start seeing what you really want and the future is really clear for you, you start to recognize who is in your orbit and who is not, right?
Who's in your orbit, who's not in your orbit? And you start to realize, do I have any time for this or do I have any time for this and all the things? So fast forward seven years later, seven years later from those kind of early, early phases and moments. I had the privilege to run around the three lakes around Minneapolis. It was Harriet, Isles, and I'm going to just, I'm going to, it's the old Lake Calhoun. Bottomaska, I think I'm saying it right. Please nobody judge me for that. But so I would run those lakes a lot and I would run it with a couple friends.
And one of the individuals I ran with was Mark Dodle. Well, right now as we speak, if you search Backyard Ultra Marathon, Backyard Ultra Marathon Tennessee, Mark has been running for two straight days. Two straight. He hasn't stopped yet. So this is like the world championship right now, going on right now of Backyard Ultra of who can stand the longest. And Mark currently is still going. So there's 13 of 15 United States runners are still going and they're competing against all the other countries.
Of the 990 runners, currently right now there's 200 left, just a little over 200 left. Mark is one of them. From right here, St. Paul, Minnesota, had the privilege to run with Mark. It was like one of those dreams of like, man, you know, I didn't see this coming. I'm not going to lie. I didn't see this coming of being like one of the most recognized ultra marathoners, ultra backyarders in the world, which is insane. Okay, so that's number one. Number 2, a dear friend of mine is Jason Lennox. He's on the platform.
This last four months, he walked around the state of Minnesota. So left from Saint Paul, walked around the entire state of Minnesota. I participated in about 1,000-ish, between 1,000 and 1,100 miles of the walk somewhere around that ballpark, which was fantastic and great. This was Jason's thing. This was awesome. Did something really special. A friend of mine that I said I met down in Atlanta, Georgia in that big event, here we are this last summer, he just did 50Ks in 50 states in 50 days. So he just wrapped up and he raised over $1,000,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
How amazing is that? How utterly amazing is that? There's a friend of mine, she lives out in Utah. Kind of like that same thing. I put myself out there to participate in a couple of these things, calendar club, all day running club, live your life resume, like all of these different things. I was like, I'm going all in. So I'm going to try it. And so when I tried these things, you start to meet new people and what are they doing and why they're doing it? Well, there's this gal, her name is Jen Drummond.
Jen Drummond, she's amazing. She just finished the world record. She's the first woman ever to have summited 7, the seven second summits across the seven continents. So she just wrapped it up. She just finished 7, scaling the seven second summits. So she's like, everybody knows the number ones. Everybody knows Everest. Everybody knows these ones, these ones across the country. But what about the second summits? So she was the first one ever to do that. Insanely impressive. Then there's like the business side of things.
There's a friend of mine who just started a new enterprise, which is really cool. It's like an AI deal wrapped in with financial management, financial accounting, you know, just going to push themselves and going after their next thing. So again, you know, this world, there's this adage that you hear when you're really young, when you're super young, it's like your mom and dad, there's gonna be like, you know, show me your friends and I'll show you your future. Or you are who you hang around with.
Or you know, the nucleus of the five people that you surround yourself is where you're gonna go. So I literally sent this message to the entire team of cadre on Friday. I literally sent this exact same message. And I just said, hey guys, you know, the last 18 months to 24 months, you've seen kind of like, not the downtrodden isn't the right word, but you've seen a different me, meaning like I had this lower back thing, I had this neck thing. There's an ankle issue. There's been a lot of stuff physically.
And sure, I'm sure the very first thing someone's going to say is, well, if you run like that and you do like that, of course that's going to happen. I hear you. I understand. It is what it is. That's not where I'm at. So what I'm going to say vocally, and I'm going to say out loud to this community, and again, everybody who watches, everybody who participates, I'm just going to say like, it's on. What do I mean by that? I started to map out my 2027, what my plans are, what I'm going to try to accomplish, what are my goals.
I sat through the weekend. I've had a lot of time at the nursing home with my grandpa, or excuse me, with my father-in-law. And to like just start writing down and getting some goals in mind and what I want to accomplish and what I want to do. What's my Masogi? What's my Masogi? And I'm going to give you guys a hint. There's 100 cities between 95 and 100 cities depending on the fluctuation that have over 10,000 residents in Minnesota. So let me say this again. There's between 95 and 100 cities that have 10,000 or more residents in Minnesota.
And I'm also going to give you another hint that Children's Minnesota does an amazing job in Minnesota, Children's Hospital, Children's Minnesota. In fact, one of my dear friends, Mikey Solem, lost their seven-year-old to cancer. And so I feel like this could be a really, really great way to work and give back and help support Children's. So we're going to we're going to think of something with those 95 to 100 cities is probably have something to do with endurance and running and maybe a half marathon in every city.
I can't say anything yet. Why I can't say anything yet is because I have to I have to have the approval from my wife. Okay. So I can't I've learned from my mistakes. And one of my mistakes is sometimes I get so jacked about something that I forget to tell my wife. And then all of a sudden she's like left there holding the bag and here I am, you know, off and running another thing. So at any rate, I'm going to talk to her first. But I'm telling you, it's going to be big. It's going to be epic. We are going to do something really special.
It is on. Odds are probably have to move a treadmill over into the office, which is really, really exciting. I'm excited about that. But this is my invitation to you. This is my invitation to you to say, it's October. We got November, December, planning months, getting ourselves in the right shape, right time, right action to say 2027 is going to be the best year for all of us. Let's say that again. Let's say it out loud. Let's say it out loud to each one of us. 2027 is going to be my best year yet.
I'm going to have the most confidence. I'm going to be unflappable, unshakable. I'm going to dominate. I am going to be relentless. I am going to give more than I give. You know, it's a Tony Robbins quote, growing makes you feel alive. Giving makes you feel 10x alive. So how can we do all of that in one calendar year? The fact of the matter is you have to plan. and you have to really, really, really plan. So one words of advice and encouragement I'm going to give you is to have weekly goals. Weekly goals, not daily.
Daily goals are a recipe for disaster. Weekly goals, you can always make them back up. Meaning, I'm gonna run 50 miles a week. I'm gonna run 70 miles a week. Well, guess what? If I do six miles a day and I miss my six miles on a day, like it's say, oh, I lost my goal of the week or I did whatever, right? But you can quickly say if my goal is 50 miles for the week, I can miss two days in the week and have a really banger weekend, right? Or I'm trying to build a new business and I wanna launch it by X day.
Well, it doesn't matter what day it is that you launch a business. You just got to get it off the ground. So just think about it in regards to like, how can you have incremental success? How can you meet your incremental goals? And what's more is, how can you have monumental growth? How can you have monumental growth? Triple B 2027 will be the most transformational year yet. It will be. I'm telling you guys, like I said this out loud. I said it to seven people. Now I'm saying it to everybody. I am going to have the most banger year I've ever had, ever.
And I know it's going to stress me out at some points. I know it's going to cost me. I know I'm gonna have to sacrifice. I know I'm gonna have to do all those things, but I'm in for it and I'm ready to go. Raise your hand if you are too. Let's go. Have an amazing week. I hope this message gets you up from whatever stupor you're in on a Monday and saying it's on and I'm going to ride with it. And I'm going to give you guys check marks, updates by the week every Monday. I'll give you maybe what I learned, what's transformed, what changes, you name it.
But every Monday, We're going hard and it's going to be real. So thank you all for joining in. And I again just want to say my message might not be for everybody, right? My message might not be for everybody. And that's okay. And to be frank, I don't really care. but I am who I am and I know what drives me and I know what motivates me and I know what moves me and I know what takes me to the next level of life and makes me feel really good about myself is to push my limits and push my boundaries.
I'm not saying I'm 1% better every day. I'm not saying I'm any of that. I'm just saying like, I am going to push my limits this year and 2027 is the year to do it. flag in the ground, manifesting the future. It's on. Watch out. Get off me. Peace. Make it a week. Bye-bye.
