Watch your life transform with changing this simple word in your day to day life.
Danielle Jokonen: How can we replace the word but with the word and, like, listen to how this sounds differently. She is an advocate for taking butt out of our language. Can you replace it with and?
Hello, everyone. Danielle Jokonen here, talking about the word but. Do you ever say something and you're like, I would love to go for a walk with you, but it's rather cold outside. It's a very simple way to state this part of the conversation of the but. And I look at it as ancient and how can we replace the word but with the word and, like, listen to how this sounds differently. I'd love to go for a walk with you. And it's cold out, so now it's like, okay, what are we gonna do with it being cold out?
And it's cold out. So I will put on a jacket, put on a hat, put on mittens, do the things stay warm. Versus saying, I love to go for a walk with you, but it's cold out, so I don't want to. Versus just saying, I'd love to go for, I want to go for a walk with you. It's called out, so I don't want to. We're trying to justify what we want by saying something first and it almost takes away the thing. 1st. 1st so it's like I look at, I have an apple and I have an orange. I have an apple, but I have an orange.
No, you have both ands. We can have two ands. A lot of times we use the word but and we typically. It almost takes away the thing you said first. So look, in your life, where are you saying a lot of buts? Like, but what does it even mean? Can you replace it with and. And it will just totally transform your language, totally transform your connection. And doing something about what you want, it's like taking responsibility for what you're saying. Yeah, I'm another example. I am tired and I have work to do versus I am tired, but I have work to do.
It really owns that you're tired, right? Like, I am tired and I have work to do. I am tired, but I have work to do. So what is it like? They're totally two different stories. Try it on. Also listen to how many times people say but in conversation. It is really interesting to listen to and just totally can transform speaking. I am an advocate for taking b*** out of our language. See what happens. Questions. My name is Danielle. Let me know. I'd love to connect. Have a good day.
