Cadre: Be silly with your kids. My car is in the shop today, so my son had to pick me up in his 2004. 3. He's playing his music and we're laughing together. For parents, just enjoy your kids while they're here.
Hi, parents. I've got a quick one for you today. Happy Tuesday. Welcome to Cadre. I have a 17 year old, and he's gonna be a senior next year. And he's leaving the nest. And so I had a great moment with him today, and I thought I'd share my lesson that I learned. My lesson is be a nerd with your kids, right? Be silly with your kids. My car got. My car is in the shop today, so my son had to pick me up in his 2004. 3. No, 2013. I don't know, something. Honda Civic. He picked me up, actually, Toyota Camry.
He picked me up. And I got in the car, and he's playing his music, his rap. And we took the moment, and I was like, yeah, right. I start playing his music with him. I'm Bob in my head. We're doing it together. And he's embarrassed, and he's like, mom, God, what are you doing? And I'm like, hey, man, we're just chilling together and. And it's so dumb. I know. It's so dumb. And he's like, what's wrong with you, Mom? And he's like, what? Why are you so weird? And I was like, listen, dude, I don't know.
This is who I am. Ask anyone around me, right? And he's like, why can't you be a normal mom? And so I said, okay, I'll be a normal mom. Sullivan, did you put the form in for your lacrosse team? Sullivan, did you get your homework done? Sullivan, did you do all the things you're supposed to do? And I was like, all right, which one do you like better? And, you know, he laughed. He's laughing the whole time we're doing this, and it's the dumbest thing. We're driving along. It's a silly, silly, silly moment.
And the truth is, though, is he starts smiling, I start smiling. It's two minutes in the car, we're laughing together. He's like, mom, you're an idiot. And I'm like, I mean, he didn't say the words, but he was just like, you know, what's wrong with you? And the truth is, we're both smiling and we're both laughing, and it's just amazing moment in time. And it took nothing, right? It took just me getting out of me being a mom for a minute. And it took him getting out of being a kid who is embarrassed of his mom for a minute, and we both did it.
It was awesome. And so I'm just here to tell you to take a moment to do that. He's gonna be a senior next year. He's gonna be gone, and I am relishing every single moment with him. And so, I guess just for parents today, I wanted to share that lesson that I just learned and just enjoy your kids, right, while they're here. We're parents, and we're also humans, and so let's just enjoy each other for who we are. All right, friends, Happy day. See you later. Have a great day.
