Good afternoon, I'm Megan Miller and this is my first live stream. So it's, it's a grand experiment. I think it's working. We'll see. I guess you have to, you always have to start somewhere, right? So again, I'm Megan Miller and I'm in my art studio in Stillwater, Minnesota. And welcome, welcome, welcome. I wanted to talk briefly. This is just a quick little intro and about slump to spark. And I don't know if you have ever been in a slump before in your career, in your relationships. I'm guessing you have because you're human and we all have had that.
But for a lot of years I was in an industry that it served me at the time and it felt great. And then I started noticing it just, it felt like I had completed my time in that career. But I want, and so when you want, you finish something, sometimes you just want to jump right into the next career or adventure. And sometimes it takes time. So I slowly started. I call it a desire path and, and noticing what I was curious about and what I was drawn to. And I had always been interested in art. When I was a little girl, I would paint on my bedroom floor and my mom just let me experiment and then I went on to art school.
So if you're just joining, we're talking about slumping and then sparking. So just talking about ideas. And I never pretend to have any answers, but I'll just share parts of my story. And that's how I got here. Doing something that I can't wait to do and get out of bed in the morning and just lights up your spirit in your soul. And I really believe that's something that we all should be doing if we can and even if it's just little ways. And so I know. So what I was talking about is being in a career that felt like it had been over.
And so I was noticing this desire path to get back on with art. And so I found small ways to start learning about the industry. So I listened to podcasts and people full time artists that were already doing it and just kind of dipping my toe in the water. And then I started thinking about this. And then one day at the cafe I went to, there was an artist that was teaching. And so sometimes too when we put that out there and all of a sudden we're aware of we're looking for the ideas and the ideas find us too.
So I went and met with that art instructor and I signed up for classes and I did both jobs for a while. So I did. I started really getting into painting and I kept my previous career. I knew I couldn't make the transition. But I sat in my car 10 years ago and. And I drew a picture of a studio in a space and what I would do there and what it would look like. And I'm here today. And I'm not saying that this is not trying to convince you all to be artists, but I'm just saying the power of your imagination and following what your calling is and what gets you excited is to go after that, oh, good morning, good afternoon, wherever you are.
And I know some people will watch this later too, so. So starting small. So what I did was practice something that I was passionate about. For an hour each day on my lunch breaks, I would wear different clothes in my car and paint. And so that is something, if you're interested in writing or just being outside and walking, I think that can open up so many ideas. And so carving out that time for you is so important. And so I'm just here today to encourage you to, to take the. Follow your intuition and that inner voice.
If it's just like this little nudge that has been coming towards you for a while, do it. And it took me, you know, 10 years to actually have that space that I drew in my car 10 years ago. But asking yourself those questions, like what? You know, some mornings it's really hard to get out of bed. What's going to get me out of bed this morning? And what, what interest do I have? And you don't even have to share it with anyone else. It can just be yours to have for a while. So if you haven't, you know, Cadre is starting a new coaching program that I'm going to be part of, and more information is rolling out about that.
I do have people here that come into the studio and we do some coaching and some art and combine it together. So just. Just a brief introduction today, and I'm just sent here to say hello, have a great day.
