Matt Arnold reflects on a chaotic week balancing gym ownership, virtual coaching and family life, sharing candid stories about disruptions at home and strategies for staying intentional amid unexpected stress.
What is going on guys? Um, this is a very random. Four 30 live stream that I'm posting out here. What is up? What is up? How's it going guys? Um, let's get started because it is four 30. And my kids are about to get home and probably do some craziness in chaos. So. I'm gonna just get going here. So if you guys don't know me, my name is Matt Arnold. And I am a health and fitness coach out of Rochester, Minnesota. I've been a coach for. Well, over 20 years, I do a lot of in. Like, um, virtual coaching as well.
So like Mo mostly in, like in the health and fitness, uh, realm of things and disclaimer, I don't have like really any sort of. You know, background as far as like, you know, um, therapy work, whatever counseling, like I'm not any of those. But what I do have is a lot of experie. Experience dealing with so many people. So many, so many people and I truly love. What I get to do, I get to help a lot of people. In, in their health and that health. Is basically like this doorway into a spectrum of life that gets pretty.
Deep and it's, it's amazing. I feel very honored to be able to help so many people not. With only with their fitness, but just in life in general. Which has been just truly amazing. Um, but I don't like today, I just felt like I needed like to make a post about something. And I just wanted to talk about like chaos, chaos of life. And I know for most of us, um, you know, we're always dealing with so many things that we just let this kind. Of like, just build and build and build. And I want to just talk about myself.
On on how my week has been and what I've done to be very. Like very much like intentional with like, you know, what. That was a terrible, awful week. But I'm not going to allow that to affect me nor my family. Especially my kids. Right. And so this has been a crazy week for me. I, I only gym. I have, you know, 300 clients at, at, at my gym. I do. You know, probably 10 hours of work every day. I'm seeing people. I have a hundred people that I roster. And work with online. Like I'm constantly busy.
And so anything that disrupts my family life or disrupts, like what is going on? Is pretty constant. And honestly, this has been probably one of the worst weeks of. Just complete chaos. So just to give you guys like a. Um, you know, an example like today. So I was at my gym. From basically 5:00 AM till about 2:00 PM. And it was a great time met. A lot of people got a lot of stuff done, got home. Guess what? There's pee in the carpet. My dogs threw mud pee and everything else that you can think. Of on the floor and guess what?
My wife and other, other kid is gone. And so like here I am like, all right, like I gotta go and clean this up. Great. Cool. So starting to do that. But then all of a sudden I get like a text message from my business. There was some stuff that was. Going on at my gym and some broken stuff just randomly happened. Right. So it's just like this stack. Stack and stack. And then all of a sudden, like you're, you're just like buried in this, buried in this chaos. And so what do you do in, in those moments of just like, oh my God, like.
Like, I just can't catch a break. Right. And, and for me, here's, here's the thing that I've realized, and this is something that. I've been super intentional, especially this week with. At the end of the day. Things were just gonna happen, right. You can either make it worse. By reacting to it and making it even w even worse of the. Situation. Right. And, and don't get me wrong. Like you can absolutely have those moments. Of just like, oh my gosh. Like, I can't believe this is happening. But for me, if I allow that to affect.
What is important to me, which is my kids and my wife. Like, I don't want them to like, carry that and see that, like, I don't want that. And so I'm gonna give myself that like, brief five, 10 minute window, whatever I need to do to like, honestly, just be like, yep. This, this kind of sucks. Yep. This is, this is a tear. Like why can't I catch a break? Right. But then it's also like, all right. So, what are you gonna do about it? And for me, it was like, I'm gonna reset. It is what it is. And I'm going to, you know, be a very appreciative of.
Of what I have right here. Which are my kids and my wife. And honestly, just a great, like overall, like I have a great life. And being able to like really practice that this week has been huge for me. And I know like, like that sounds. So easy. Well, it, it isn't, it, it, it absolutely isn't. Isn't here's another situation that really happened for me, that I felt like was. Pretty just like, it just completely switched the way I thought about this. So as a social media fitness guy, I run ads. Right.
And someone accidentally clicked an ad on mine and was like, oh, Hey, sorry. Sorry, man. Like I'm I am like, I, sorry, sorry that I clicked on this. And I was having to. Really another really just grindy day. Right? Well, I replied back to this guy and I was like, you know what? It's all good, man. Like, I'm a. Human. Like I'm a real human, I'm not this Bach or AI guy. Like I, like, I get it like. Life happens. He responded back. And said, dude, like, thank you so much. Like, I, I need to hear that because.
Right now, I'm, you know, I'm trying to, trying to rehab myself, you know, like get away from. Alcohol and, you know, just be a better person. So it's nice to like hear from someone that. That's you know, trying to be human. And, you know, I, I took a minute. I sent him a video in that video, basically. Let's just reference and like, dude, like. That is so amazing that you're doing that. And if you truly need anyone to like, just. Randomly, like reach out to, and like talk to, because I know how hard of a journey that must be.
I'm your guy, right? And so going from that, just. Terrible kind of like just, you know, gritty kind of day of just like. Go go go. Nothing could go. Right? It's just stressful. Whatever, to just showing some kindness. And just being able to like automatically just like switch my mindset, being like. You know, my life might be rough. This day might be terrible. This week might be awful, but at the end of the day, like I have the power to not only like, change my perspective on things, but also still.
Making an impact. And that impact just felt so powerful. Being able to talk to this. Individual that was comp a complete stranger. And just really like showing some humanity. And, and, and empathy, like it was amazing. And so when you guys are dealing with your chaos, when you guys are dealing. With like, just life in general, just remember. You know what, like it's not that bad. We had a pretty good, and if you are dealing with it, in a way that's just, just. Hard for you to get out of. I think my biggest advice there is.
Show more kindness to the people around you. You know, don't allow that energy to like, just keep on dragging you down and then dragging PE the people. Around you like obviously you want to be genuine to yourself. You wanna be true to yourself. You don't, you know, being. Sad or being stressed or being angry, whatever those, those feelings that you might Harbor. Are real, but also at the same time, like, you have the power to be able to like switch that off. And I'm realizing that power for myself, which is.
Absolutely. Just showing more kindness being okay with like situations are gonna suck, but at the same. Time, like, you know what, I'm gonna give my son a hug right now and say like, dude, it's. It's okay. That the dog's peed on the floor. Like you did your best. That's fine. Whatever. We all make mistakes. When that life is gonna go on. So when we're dealing with chaos guys, like we have a choice. We can either let it take us down or we can actually. Get above it and actually grow from it. So I hope everyone has a great Friday.
I hope this weather holds up for Halloween for everyone.
