Bringing art into our daily routine. When you can’t paint or create look for it in nature.
Part of my painting practice and mindfulness practice is moving my body. Staying grounded and in the present moment. noticing the color of the grasses and the trees and the sky and the moon have really helped me as an artist. Have a great day.
Hi. I'm out in the field, and it's too cold. I'm a landscape painter. It's too cold to paint right now. My oil paints wouldn't even move if I wanted them to. So I'm out observing color, and part of my painting practice and mindfulness practice is moving my body. Getting outside. I did not want to come out today. It's cold, but the color is gorgeous. So I'm comparing the prairie grass to the sky color and doing some color studying. Just painting with my eyes today. And that also has helped me so much, being in the present moment and not staying busy in my head while I walk or exercise, because sometimes I can just ruminate and go over things that I'm worried about.
And then I get done walking, I'm like, oh, I didn't even. Where was I? So noticing the color of the grasses and the trees and the sky and the moon have really helped me as an artist, but helped me as a human, too. Staying grounded and in the present moment. Have a great day.
