A reflective talk on shifting self-talk from I can’t to I already did, exploring how tiredness or past effort is often mistaken for incapacity and inviting listeners to reframe their limits as signs of having already shown up.
The host opens the video by welcoming the audience, checking in on how they are doing, and briefly sharing that they had a long rest and a relaxed morning.
The speaker reflects on how common it is to default to 'I can't' and clarifies the difference between capability and current capacity like energy or time, prompting reflection.
Using personal examples, the host suggests reconsidering 'I can't' statements as 'I already did' to acknowledge past effort and limits, offering examples to illustrate the shift.
Short farewell to end the video.
Hey, happy Saturday, Cadre. How are we doing out there? How are we doing? Messy hair, do not care. That's always the case, but sometimes I go, wait, how did it get that messy? My Saturday has started with, I just left a nice meandering stroll around the gym after being in bed for 16 1/2 hours. Yep, I had a nice 16 1/2 hour. Lay around and sleep and groggy morning and then got a little bit of movement in. It's not often that I get to be in bed to have 16 1/2 hours to be in bed, and often when I do, I don't.
But by golly, it was not a choice. The body said you're going to stay here. T North speak wonder how are y'all on this Saturday? Yeah, it is funny in this world. First of all, I'm glad I'm here. I'm glad you're here. I know the things I know and I care about you. It's funny in this world how we go to can't really, really quick. I can't do that or I could never do that or oh my gosh, that is something that I am not capable of. Not capacity, not that I have the capacity for it, but I'm not, I'm not capable of.
Capability, capacity. Capability. Could I do it? Yes or no? Capacity. Do I have the energy, the time to do it? Yes or no? It's amazing how quickly we will go to I cannot do that thing as opposed to I already did. Right. I had a really long week. So if I had woke up this morning and be like, oh my gosh, I can't get out of bed as opposed to Wow, you want to know why I can't get out of bed? Because I already did. I already got up and did the things. I already got up and made the connections and took care of the people and lived the vocation and learned the lessons and yada, yada, yada, yada, yada.
We often say I can't as if it's a capability thing versus a I'm tired, I'm stressed out, I'm hurt, I'm processing. So my invitation for you today is if you hear yourself going, I can't, I can't, I can't, consider if it's, you know, I already did. I already did. I already did. I can't jump over the high building. I already did jump over the high building. I can't put the weight of the world on my shoulders. I already did put the weight of the world on my shoulders. I can't? Probably not. I already did?
Yeah. Bye, y'all.
